Each elegant thatched suite is positioned to ensure you enjoy total privacy and features a comfortable chill space, full bathroom, outdoor rock shower, and wraparound wooden deck from where you can take in the breathtaking vistas of the surrounding pristine bushveld. The retractable doors and windows serve to further enhance the sense of being at one with nature.
Additional facilities include air conditioning, ceiling fans, gas fireplaces plus a safe, mini- bar, tea/coffee making station, percale linen, mosquito nets, robes, slippers, a hairdryer, umbrella, and animal reference guide.
The family units offer all the same amenities found in the regular two-sleeper suites and comprise two double bedrooms linked by a central living space, dining room, and kitchenette.
The main guest hub is connected to the suites by wooden walkways and displays the same classic Afro-centric interiors. Here you’ll find inviting indoor and outdoor sitting areas, a sumptuous dining space, library/TV room with Wi-Fi access, and a well-stocked bar and wine cellar. Tuningi’s main guest hub opens onto a spacious wooden platform from where you can watch the resident bird- and wildlife meandering down to the waterhole for a refreshing drink.
For a more laid-back vantage on the animal action, why not retire to the super comfy reclining chairs alongside the crystal-clear rim flow pool. Alternatively, follow the walkway that leads from the platform to the Boma set below a magnificent old Fig Tree; the perfect setting for fire-lit bush dinners under star-filled night skies. Otherwise, evening meals are served in the cosy dining room.
Hearty brunches are served on the main deck while lunches are typically enjoyed under the massive Fig Tree, affording you an additional opportunity to observe Madikwe’s plentiful game.
For guests wishing to share some time with their significant, an intimate al fresco dinner for two can be organised on request. Families with children also have the option of taking meals in the confines of their suite or feasting on a veritable extravaganza of local flavours in a separate Boma.
Every meal at Tuningi is treated as a reason to celebrate life on safari and created from the freshest and finest ingredients – as per your special dietary requirements – and only improved by the superlative choice of wines.
Little Tuningi Private Camp is a self-contained base designed to sleep a maximum of six guests in unrivalled luxury. The Camp consists of a regular two-sleeper suite coupled with a family unit as well as a living room, dining space, gourmet kitchen, Boma, expansive timber platform, and swimming pool. While Little Tuningi is built to offer utter seclusion, guests are of course welcome to access the main hub and its amenities.
As you’d expect, Tuningi Safari Lodge gives guests ample chances to explore the wonders of Madikwe Game Reserve, home to the Big 5 and a spectacular diversity of African fauna and flora.
Outdoor adventures include thrilling sunrise and sunset game drives in state-of-the-art Land Cruisers and informative walking trails accompanied by qualified field guides. For a more exclusive encounter with Madikwe’s resident wildlife and bird species, a dedicated two-person excursion can be arranged at an extra charge.
Due to safety concerns, children under the age of six are unfortunately unable to participate in the regular game drives. However, as a family-oriented Lodge, Tuningi has lots to offer junior guests. The exciting and entertaining children’s programme starts with a post-breakfast supervised “bumble” to one of the waterholes. Other activities include treasure hunts, drawing, clay modeling, puzzle building, swimming, T-shirt painting, cooking with the chef, tracing tracks, and recording animal movements.
The Lodge’s fantastic nannies are always on hand to keep a watchful eye on the little ones, so you can enjoy your downtime with having to worry about them. Perhaps even treat yourself to a rejuvenating spa therapy in the comfort of your suite or on your deck;
what better way to conclude another incredible day in this untamed wilderness.
Tuningi Safari Lodge also provides a picturesque setting for your nuptial celebration and can cater to parties of up to 40 guests. From the open-air rehearsal dinner to the customary exchanging of your wedding vows atop a small “koppie” looking out towards the Waterberg range in the distance, Tuningi’s attention to detail and personalised service will ensure your big day proceeds flawlessly.
Its stylish accommodation, a warm atmosphere, exceptional cuisine, and unrivalled game viewing are what make family-friendly Tuningi Safari Lodge a favourite destination for family and group bushveld getaways.
