Impodimo Game Lodge lies along a rocky ridge at the source of a natural spring from where it commands stunning vistas of Madikwe Game Reserve’s breathtaking bushveld terrain.

This five-star owner-managed Game Lodge truly lives up to the spirit of its name which means “a gift from God” in Tswana and features eight glass-fronted luxury suites and two deluxe suites built into the hillside. The tastefully-appointed thatched suites are all positioned to optimise your privacy and your views of the parade of resident bird- and wildlife meandering down to the waterhole to quench their thirst.

Each standard suite is furnished with an option of twin beds or a king-sized bed on request, a fireplace, full en-suite bathroom, outdoor shower, bar fridge, safe, coffee/tea making station, air-conditioning, and a covered patio.

    The elegant deluxe unit has two en-suite bedrooms, each with its own deck and en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, double hand basin, and opulent bath and offers all the facilities found in the standard luxury suites.

    In addition, this generous unit also has a central sitting room, dining space, kitchen, and bar leading onto an extended wooden patio which boasts an inviting plunge pool. Guests staying in the deluxe suites also have the sole-use of a game drive vehicle at their disposal as well as the services of a dedicated chef.

    Impodimo’s central hub is decorated in the same refreshing Afro-chic style as the suites and is the heart of this fabulous Game Lodge. Here you will find a cosy lounge and bar area with a striking circular fireplace as its focal point, a comfortable library, well- stocked wine cellar, and gift shop.

    Mouth-watering breakfasts and lunches are usually served on the pool deck while high teas are catered to al fresco in a spot overlooking Madikwe’s sweeping landscape. Come evening meals the delightful firelit Boma is the ideal place to enjoy Impodimo’s fine Pan-African fare and relive another amazing day on safari in Africa.

    If you’re in need of some downtime, why not idle away your afternoon alongside the sparkling pool or escape to the confines of the Sala which is located near the waterhole. Or round off your day in the great outdoors with a rejuvenating in-room spa treatment by one of Impodimo’s experienced massage therapists.

    Impodimo Game Lodge is set up to provide guests the opportunity to explore Madikwe’s incredible diversity of fauna and flora including Africa's Big Five. Activities include twice- daily game drives in open Landrovers and bush walks accompanied by qualified field rangers and talented Shangaan trackers.

    The early evening safari drive includes a sundowner stop, giving you the chance to watch the sun set on another glorious day in this wilderness paradise and go in search of the more elusive nocturnal animals. And in the chillier winter season, the Lodge offers guests full-day excursions to the far side of Madikwe Game Reserve, including a scrumptious picnic lunch.

    While junior guests aged six or younger are not allowed on the regular game drives, Impodimo does have a kiddies’ “bush bumble.” What’s more, each child will receive a personalized welcome pack with goodies and activities to complete inbetween their mini-safaris. Babysitting services can also be arranged at an additional charge.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be in writing.

If a booking is cancelled after confirmation, a 20% cancellation fee will apply.

  • 45 and 31 days prior to arrival – Forfeit deposit
  • 30 and 15 days prior to arrival – 50% of the total amount will be due.
  • 14 and 0 days prior to arrival – 90% of the total amount will be due.
  • A 10% admin fee will be retained for cancellations made after the card has been charged.

Full payment Is required within 48 hours of your booking. This payment can be made via bank transfer or credit card (Master/Visa).

A 50% deposit Is required within 48 hours of your booking and the balance 30 days prior to arrival. This payment can be made via bank transfer or credit card (Master/Visa).

Children

  • Children under the age of 12 are permitted on safari with other guests at the sole discretion of the manager or guide. 
  • Children under the age of 6 are not permitted on safari, and where possible, a special “kiddie’s safari” can be arranged between normal safari times. 
  • No children under the age of 16 will be permitted on bush walks.

The lodge reserves the right to impose similar restrictions for family villa guests if it is believed that safety may be compromised. Babysitting can be arranged at the lodge at an additional charge.

Please note that there are road works between Johannesburg and Impodimo and we advise to add an additional hour driving time to your journey. Please take this into consideration should you wish to make it for the afternoon game drive.

Each luxury suite features Luxurious King-sized beds with the option of twin beds available on request, full en-suite bathrooms with in-door and outdoor showers. All suites are fully air conditioned and are equipped with closed system fireplaces for those chilly winter evenings. Our guests enjoy the suite’s large private decks where you can absorb the sights and sounds and smells of the bush.

Standard Luxury Suite

  • Children under the age of 12 years will be 50% of the adult sharing rate per child per night when sharing with adults. Single supplement of 50% applies to any single occupancy room.

2 Delux Safari Suite

Accommodation in a self-contained luxury unit, which has two suites, each with its own private deck and en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower, double hand basin, large bath and excellent views. The unit also has a central lounge and dining facility with its own kitchen, bar and a viewing deck overlooking a waterhole and stunning views. There is also a private pool fitted with a safety net when not in use for those with younger children.

 The Safari Villa

Overlooking the waterhole and with striking views over the expanse of Madikwe Game Reserve, The Safari Villa stands alone in understated luxury, yet it still retains its connection with the lodge. Consisting of two luxury suites linked by its own lounge, kitchen, dining and bar area, the Safari Villa boasts its own plunge pool, boma deck and fire pit. This beautiful villa can be completely independent from the lodge if preferred and offers excellent privacy and exclusivity.

Impodimo is situated 350 kilometres from O.R Tambo Internal Airport (Johannesburg).

Road Transfers
Road transfers can be arranged from Johannesburg or from Gaborone.

Air
Air transfers are available on a daily basis from OR Tambo International Airport to and from Madikwe.

Directions OR Tambo to Impodimo Game Lodge via Pretoria

  • Leaving the airport, turn right onto the R21 to Pretoria.
  • Continue on the R21 towards Pretoria.
  • Keep to the left 2 lanes to take Exit134 for the N1 North towards Polokwane.
  • Continue on the N1
  • Take Exit 154 for the N4 towards Rustenberg.
  • Continue on the N4 until you reach Zeerust
  • In Zeerust, about halfway through the town, turn right onto President street/R49
  • Continue on the R49 for approximately 95km until you reach Wonderboom Gate on your right.

Directions OR Tambo to Impodimo Game Lodge via Magaliesburg

  • Leaving the airport, get onto the R21 and keep left to take Exit134 to the N1 South towards Johannesburg
  • Merge onto the Danie Joubert (N1) Freeway.
  • Continue onto the N14.
  • Keep right to turn right and stay on N14.
  • Take a slight right onto the R563
  • Turn left onto the R400
  • Turn right onto the R24
  • Turn left onto Koster Road/ R509
  • Turn right onto Brink Street/Jameson Road/R509
  • Turn left onto Andries Pretorius Street/N4
  • Continue on the N4 until you reach Zeerust
  • In Zeerust, about halfway through the town, turn right onto President street/R49
  • Continue on the R49 for approximately 95km until you reach Wonderboom Gate on your right.

Directions Sun City to Impodimo Game Lodge

  • Turn left, after approximately 14km, turn right towards Renosterdorings/Lindelyspoort
  • Continue on this road until you eventually come to a four way stop
  • Follow the signs to Swartruggens
  • Continue driving until you come to a T-junction and then turn right.
  • Turn left shortly after the T-junction
  • After approximately 2km, at the next T-junction, turn left towards Zeerust.
  • Continue on the N4 until you reach Zeerust
  • Continue straight until you reach another T-Junction and turn right.
  • You should now be on the N4.
  • Continue on the N4 until you reach Zeerust
  • In Zeerust, about halfway through the town, turn right onto President street/R49
  • Continue on the R49 for approximately 95km until you reach Wonderboom Gate on your right.

Directions from Johannesburg to Impodimo Lodge

  • Drive from Johannesburg to Magaliesburg along the N14 and the R 24.
  • From Magaliesburg, take the R509 through Derby to Koster (69km)
  • Turn right in Koster to Swartruggens. (34km)
  • Continue straight through Swartruggens towards Groot Marico and Zeerust. You do not actually pass through the town of Groot Marico
  • After entering Zeerust, keep straight on until you see a sign for Gaberone / Madikwe Game Reserve. Turn right there.
  • Continue on this road through 2 rural villages and past Madikwe Road Takeaways (a store and filling station) and past Nietverdiend (a store, filling station and police station).
  • Continue on this road past the Abjagterskop Gate for Madikwe Game Reserve on your right. (Thatched entrance with flags etc.) for 7km.
  • 7 km past the Abjagterskop Gate, you will find another gate (Wonderboom gate) on the Right into the park. We will meet you here.

Please note that the last reliable stop to put in petrol is Zeerust. We recommend you stop there to fill up before coming through to the lodge.

Game Drives
Rise in the morning to an African dawn and enjoy an early morning game drive with your dedicated professional ranger and tracker. Relax as your ranger guides you through the bush on a custom made open Land Rover searching out the secrets of nature. In the afternoon, when the heat of the African sun has diminished and the shadows are longer, head out on a sundowner safari to watch the sun set on this bushveld paradise and go in search of the more nocturnal creatures that now rule the bush.

Bushwalks
For the more adventurous, set out on a bush walk with your fully qualified and armed trails guide and learn the art of tracking African game and get to experience the bush in a way that is impossible in a vehicle. Study the signs of the wild as your guide interprets the secrets for you, always ensuring your safety.

Trackers
Impodimo has the advantage out on safari. We have talented trackers on each game viewer that assists the ranger in finding the animals. Together this team of ranger and tracker are able to more efficiently track down that special sighting you are looking for, in an immersive experience. Trackers, have the ability to see and read the signs of the bush that others might have missed. Having two qualified guides ensures that comfort and safety are always the highest priority.

Children on Safari
Children of all ages are welcome at Impodimo and we love to go out of our way to ensure that kids and parents both have an unforgettable safari experience. Our kiddies program is tailored to the different ages and can be fun and educational for all. Each child receives a personalized welcome pack with goodies and activities to do in between safaris. Children over the age of 6 years are welcome on the game drives, however, families with younger children need not fear that their kids will miss out, as we offer a ‘kiddies bumble’ which is shorter and aimed at keeping the little one’s attention. We offer babysitting services for when parents are on safari or if they simply need the break.

Dining
Dining is a central part of any safari experience, and we are passionate about amazing food. Enjoy a sumptuous brunch at the pool lapa on return from your morning game drive and a traditional high tea in the afternoon overlooking the African Bush. Relax as our talented team of chefs turn out the finest Pan-African cuisine using the finest locally sourced ingredients, Our menus change daily, according to what produce is available and are customized to the different dietary preferences of our guests. Dinners can be enjoyed with your hosts in the open-air boma or the dining room with a fine wine. Share your adventures while you enjoy a nightcap around the fire or If you prefer, we can arrange private dining for a more intimate experience. Whatever you choose, there will always be surprise and delight even for the most discerning palate.

Massage Treatments
A day in the bush is not complete without an in-room massage treatment out on your private deck or on our Sala viewing deck. Choose from a menu of different treatments including hot stone massage offered by our skilled and qualified therapists. Luxury has never felt this good.

Elephant Hide
What happens when you can’t get enough of the game viewing on game drive? You spend your time in our amazing Elephant hide of course. Our underground hide is situated mere meters away from the lodge’s waterhole with non-stop action from Elephants rolling in the mud to terrapins poking their heads out from the water. With a fully stocked bar and the finest Italian coffee you wouldn’t want to leave this air-conditioned paradise. The hide is ideal for the amateur and professional photographer alike, giving amazing opportunities to capture the natural behaviour of wildlife from the low angle perspective. Among our guides are some talented photographers who are happy to share their knowledge with you.

Conservation Activity Safari
Occasionally we are able to arrange a special conservation activity safari where our guests are able to participate in real conservation work. This may include experiences such as wildlife capture and darting for the purposes of collecting scientific data or for veterinary procedures. Besides getting up close and personal with some of Africa’s most iconic species, you will get a deeper knowledge and understanding of the conservation challenges facing them. You will be contributing directly to this essential work. This is a once in a lifetime type of experience! Contact the lodge for further information and to book this group activity when available.

Our passion has always been to bring the most amazing experiences to our guests and with that in mind the Elephant Hide was born. Merging ultra luxury with incredible game viewing right on your doorstep.

Our guests get to enjoy a fully stocked bar, Italian coffee and air-conditioned comfort whilst they soak up the wildlife just meters away. It is the perfect spot to watch wildlife, big and small, up close with minimum disturbance to their natural behaviour. The hide is a photographers dream, offering an excellent vantage point in complete comfort and safety to get that award-winning shot or just to marvel at the unfolding drama of the waterhole.


October – April (Rainy Season)

Daytime temperatures average around 30°C. The highest rainfall months are between November and February, though rainfall tends to come in short, sharp bursts and then the skies clear. The days can be hot and humid but the nights are beautifully balmy. During the rainy season the park’s vegetation is particularly lush, green and pretty; the soil is a distinctive deep red. This is the best time for birders, and for rich photographic contrasts.

May to September (Dry Season)

The winter months in Madikwe are dry and cool, with crisp clear blue skies. Night temperatures can sometimes drop to 2°C so be sure to bring warm clothes. Day temperatures average a comfortable 23°C. This is the best time for big game viewing, with animals being forced to move around in search of the scarce water supplies.
